Newsletter July 2012
Hope you are all doing very well. All is going well at the lodge with no complaints. We are entering the windy month of August and it is already showing. It looks like we will have a very windy few weeks ahead. Temperature wise it is not too bad at all. I want to thank Simon Dabbs for the donation to carry on with the bush clearing in front of room 4/5 as soon as we have a few days we will get going on that.
We had a very interesting early morning shoot at Thlou dam, instead of going out and looking for animals we went out to shoot the stars very different but so rewarding.
Yes do get up after 3:00 ………but like I said very rewarding 🙂
Update from Parks board is that the Ecologist position has been filled, Carlien from Ukuthula are stepping up to be the new Ecologist and we are looking forward in working with her. The cheetahs are still on their way so we are holding our breaths. Hopefully the two new lions will be arriving soon as well. As you all know the big pack of dogs were denning on the Makanyane concession and they did let us on their concession but then someone overstepped and they closed the sighting for everybody. Then soon after that the guides at Tuningi found another den in the South in the Dwarsberg mountains. 3 Adults and 7 pups, so we had great sightings there until the alpha female took the pups and ran because of hyena activity around the densite.
This all happened last week and no one have relocated on them again. As you know it is extremely dry and thlou dam looks terrible but I am glad to tell you that they are busy with a new pipeline to Thlou dam to help water supply to the dam.
See below some images from our game drives:
Looking forward in seeing you guys back at the lodge
